- NBC: Unintended consequence of the bailout era #1: According to a new study Adults who move back home during tough economic times sometimes find themselves reverting to adolescent behaviors. That makes sense. When we’re around old friends that we haven’t seen in a while we have a tendency to revert back to our former selves. The psychological term is “Revertigo”… How I Met Your Mother did a whole episode about the phenomenon. My question is this, if you are a parent and your 20/30-something child moves back in with you, how long are you going to put up with them if they are not only draining your retirement but also acting like a bratty teenager?
- ABC: Unintended consequence of the bailout era #2: I know that in the Obama-era you’re not supposed to feel bad for anyone who has a higher income than you do, but this caught me eye… In the bad economy, CEOs don’t want to be seen playing golf. This isn’t the most Earth-shattering story or anything, but isn’t it kind of sad when people are altering their personal lives just because they are worried about how it might look?
- Washington Post: South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is set to return on Wednesday from his mysterious, six-day wilderness retreat. His wife claimed to not know where he had gone, but his office now claims that he was hiking the Appalachian Trail. My first thought was that he could pretty much forget about running for President after literally disappearing. But now I think this whole thing may be a campaign stunt for 2012. After four years of micro-managing from the current administration, we may all want a President that disappears for a while. “Sanford 2012: We can’t even find the guy half the time, let alone put him on primetime TV every week.”
- L.A. Times: Jon and Kate Gosselin announced that they are filing for divorce. What’s that? You don’t care? Neither do I. Deibert had a wonderful suggestion for a new series though: “Jon and Kate Plus Eight… Plus Date.”
