Useful information from behind the control board

- The State: South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has not been heard from since Thursday, and his security detail and wife seem to be as baffled as everyone else. The governor’s office released a statement saying that he had taken some away to “recharge…and to work on a couple of projects that have fallen by the wayside.” The statement added that his office would not discuss the details of his whereabouts or security, suggesting his office has no idea of his location, either. I have to say that I think after disappearing for an entire weekend, he’s going to face some difficulty in the Presidential race. Say what you will about Obama, but he always makes sure you know where he is.
- CBS: The Obama administration is saying that we’ve hit bottom and the recession will start to reverse course. Well, not so fast. A survey of businesses say that more than half intend to maintain job cuts, meaning that there just aren’t going to be any new jobs out there for several years.
- KC Star: Here’s a problem that I ran into last week, the more airlines tack on fees for checking your baggage, the worse it is in finding overhead space for your carry-ons. Not only that, but because everyone has at least one carry-on and they are trying to cram them into the available spaces, it is literally taking twice as long to get everyone on-board the aircraft.
- A report at ProFootballTalk.com claims that the Minnesota Vikings have already signed Brett Favre. His agent denies it. Seriously, the guy would be old even if he hadn’t retired already. Even Michael Jordon is telling him to give it a rest. Minnie Minoso is telling him that he should just go home and spend some time with his family. Jamie Moyer is making jokes about his age.
