Hulu: Conan O’Brien had John McCain on earlier this week, and he shared the casting for the upcoming CBS made-for-TV movie on the search for a VP candidate. My personal favorite was Joe Lieberman… it turns out that same actor will be playing Brit Hume in the upcoming documentary on his life.
CBS 2: A 14 year old from Indiana was told that the shoes he wanted for back-to-school were out of stock in his size. He went home and shot himself. Those must be some kind of shoes. Sadly when I first saw the headline about a shooting over shoes being out of stock, I figured the kid shot someone and stole their shoes. Do you think there’s anything that can be done about a school environment where the kind of shoes you’re wearing is so important that you’d rather kill yourself than show up in lesser footware?
AP: If you checked out a copy of Tropic of Cancer from the library a couple of years ago and it’s sitting on a bookshelf, you might want to make a trip to the library ASAP. A 20 year old Wisconsin woman was cuffed, booked and fingerprinted for overdue library books. She ignored repeated requests for the books to be returned. Do you think there was actually a library detective on the case?
AJC: What good could possibly come from Kathy Cox… the Georgia Superintendent of Schools going on “Are You Smarter Than A 5th-Grader?” If she wins, that’s what you expect her to do. If she loses, well, it doesn’t get more humiliating. Why would you do that? My prediction is that she will lose… big.
