Wednesday Show Prep - Undeniable bias edition

  • AFP: John McCain’s campaign says that the media have a “bizarre fascination” with Obama. I don’t know that there’s any way that an honest observer could deny that. Not only did the NYT Times refuse to run an op-ed piece that McCain wrote in response to one by Obama, but when I was editing the picture posted above, even I inadvertently gave Obama top billing.
  • Sun-Crimes: Remember those pointless polls talking about things like “which candidate would you rather sit down and watch Kiss Saves Christmas with”? Well now we’ve got something even more pointless: What McCain and Obama’s favorite restaurants say about them.
  • Boston Globe: Fired worker accused of trying to cut boss’ power. Maybe I’ve just been fortunate, in that I’ve really liked all but one of my supervisors, but I don’t think I could ever picture myself getting so mad that I would put that much effort into disrupting their life. On the other hand, I do however have a pretty spectacular plan for the next time I have to turn in my resignation… of course it’s not a “disgruntled employee” type plan, it’s more of a “that would be the funniest resignation in history” type plan.
  • Free Press: They have finally gotten around to demolishing Tiger Stadium. The Tigers played their last game there in 1999, so clearly the eight year demolition process was a government program. This is kind of sad news. The ballpark wasn’t in very good shape, so the Tigers are far better off at their new digs, but it was pretty cool that you could still drive by the old one. Even if that was only because they couldn’t decide what to do with it.
  • Tribune/Fox News: Baseball Hall-of-Fame writer Jerome Holtzman has died at the age of 82. Holtzman was baseball’s first official historian, and invented the save. Actress Estelle Getty has also died. Getty invented stories about Sicily that started out with “Picture it….” I’ll be waiting to see who fills out the celebrity death trifecta.

Well, then, I refuse to acknowledge the NYT even exists :P lol.

Really, that is the most blatant bias I’ve ever seen. It’s McCain putting forth his opinion, who cares about the content? It’s his campaign, he’ll address what he wants to address!

I think Estelle Getty must have been old since the 80s :)

Actually Estelle Getty was only 61 when Golden Girls started… my guess is they made her look older
