CNN: Barenaked Ladies singer/guitarist/Canadian Steven Page (He’s on the far left) was arrested for cocaine possession in New York. This won’t stop me from being a fan of theirs at all, but I think it’ll be interesting to see how people will react to this news. If it was marijuana, I assume that the supposedly puritan drug laws in the US would be blamed, but somehow cocaine seems a bit more serious, doesn’t it?
AP: Barack Obama raised $52 million in June. All my life I’ve heard that the Republicans have so much money that they practically buy every election. Do you think this will put an end to that talk? Of course according to Matt Lewis at the conservative website Townhall.com, Obama has a serious math problem.
Trib: Dan Deibert had this story on WGN Radio today. New CDC data shows that 1/4 of the popluation of the US is now obese. That’s interesting enough, but their methodology is absoultely amazing… they simply asked people if the thought they were obese. So what would you estimate the real number is, higher or lower?
KTVZ: Speaking of fat people. A woman who was having a heckuva time losing weight has found out that she actually has a 140 lb tumor. 140 lbs… that’s more than 3/4 of an entire Keith Conrad. If you haven’t noticed any symptoms associated with having a 140 lb tumor, you simply aren’t taking care of yourself at all and deserve whatever you get.
USA Today: This seems to be a day for dumb health-related stories. According to new data, Married couples who play together stay together. Really? If you make time to do things that make both of you happy, your marriage is going to have a better shot at being successful? If you could see me right now, you’d know that I’m making my “shocked” face.

Courier-Journal: The nation’s 4th hand transplant patient is getting a look at his new hands for the first time. Two things: a) Am I the only one who didn’t know that it was possible to get a hand transplant? b) Am I the only one very weirded out by the idea of a hand transplant? After all, if you get any other transplant you may have someone else’s body part, but you’ll never actually see anything but a scare. Looking down and seeing someone else’s hands would just be too freaky deaky for me.
