Another missed opportunity

It looks like the slim chances of me ever going to the Moon went down a bit more, yesterday was the deadline to apply for a slot in NASA’s next class of astronauts:

Do you have the right stuff? If so, you have until midnight Monday to submit your application for job No. JS07A0176 at NASA.

Qualified “Astronaut Candidates” have a degree in the sciences or mathematics. Their eyesight is correctable to 20/20 and their blood pressure is below 140/90. They’re between 62 inches and 75 inches tall. (Those off-the-rack spacesuits and Soyuz capsules are somewhat limiting.) Strong swimmers are preferred.

The advertisement lists Houston as the duty location, but we all know that the real work is done on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.

The annual salary falls between $59,493 and $130,257.

Bah. I’m sure by the time we all hit retirement age, there’ll be retirement communities on the moon…unless Obama wins :|
