Tuesday Show Prep

  • SFGate: Employers are cracking down on smoking. Interestingly enough, I believe that the Tribune Company has adopted the opposite strategy, they have even gotten rid of the surcharge that used to apply to smokers. Usually if you smoke and have health problems because of it, your insurance rates are going to go up. If an employer wants to keep people from smoking while they are on the clock that’s fine, but how can you tell your employee that they can’t do it even when they are at home?
  • New York Daily News: The Mets have fired Willie Randolph. Normally I would feel sorry for the guy, but since I’m a Cubs fan and hate the Mets with the fire of a thousand suns, I’ll just enjoy how much they screwed this one up. Not only did they fire him in the middle of the night, but they did it just after he had flown all the way to the west coast for a road trip, and they did it after a win.
  • WIRED: Special effects guru Stan Winston died yesterday at age 62. If you’ve seen a movie that even has a hint of sci-fi, chances are you know his work. His list of credits included all three Terminators, Aliens, and Jurassic Park.
  • AP: Man arrested for alleged drunk driving twice in one hour. Not only should this guy never be allowed to drive again, but I’m thinking that the judge should give him a sandwich board with something creative written on it and make him walk up and down a busy street for a whole day.
  • FoxNews: 76 year Betty Neumar is 5 for 5 when it comes to husbands, they are all dead. The really sick thing is the fact that none of them seemed to be rich or anything like that, so apparently she married and subsequently murdered them just for fun.
