I’ve never seen an episode of Deadwood, so I didn’t really care all that much when they announced that Paula Malcomson had been cast as one of the main characters on Caprica… but this is pretty big news, we’ve learned who will be playing Admiral Adama’s dad:

Esai Morales, who you may know best as Lt. Rodriquez on NYPD Blue, or as Major Beck from ill-fated Jericho, has landed the role of Joseph Adama, father to William, grandfather to Lee. Joseph is described as “a man who has done a few crooked things in his life” and is one to be feared. Remember, he knows a thing or two about the law as well.

I could be wrong, but I think that Morales may actually be the first Jericho cast member to land work elsewhere, which probably puts the final nail in their post-apocalyptic coffin. I think he’ll be a great fit as an Adama.

They say this is a “back door pilot” but let’s be honest, if the two hour Ford commercial that was Knight Rider can get picked up, it would be a pretty sad commentary on the powers that be at the SciFi channel if Caprica wasn’t on the fall schedule.
