Don Williams at BuddyTV has a fantastic recap of the Battlestar Galatica season premiere.
I thought the episode was great… I know that Battlestar Galactica has a budget that’s bigger than a lot of network shows, so I understand that it’s tough for them to do anything like this, but after they made us wait a full year for the new season could they at least give us a two hour premiere? I didn’t mind the cliffhanger so much, but having only an hour long show after such a long wait seems kind of like waiting all year to go to one Cubs game and having it rained out after the 7th inning, technically it was a full game but you don’t quite feel like you got your money’s worth.
Maybe that’s something they should think about for next season… oh wait.
I think the scene with Anders during the battle with the Cylons should end any doubt about whether or not he, Tigh, Tyrol and Tory are Toasters… so at least they answered that question. But other than that we didn’t learn very much in this one.
The biggest question to me is what did Baltar do to get his little cult? As far as I can remember all he did was surrender to the Cylons… so maybe his cult will move to France when they find Earth, but other than that I’m pretty befuddled on that one.
It’ll also be interesting to see what happens to Starbuck, both because of what she did at the end and also the fact that she told Anders that if she found out he was a Cylon she would shot him between the eyes… obviously her experience in Maelstrom didn’t improve her opinion of Leoben.
Oh yeah, it’s also worth pointing out that SciFi.com has decided to stream the episodes live at noon eastern on Friday… so I got to see it a full 10 hours before you mere mortals who don’t have to wake up before Al Roker.

Roslin = Cylon
Actually, I saw an interesting theory that perhaps the cylon and human fleet nearly completely destroy each other, and then what’s left settle on Earth…either they become the human race we know today, or they just intermingle with who’s there already. It’d kind of fit if it were the former, particularly if it turns out that it’s Earth of the past.
I still think it’ll turn out to be Cally, and she and Tyrol will just have the first Cylon kid
