The Geek to end all Geeks

A thesis is a massive project that all but consumes you while you work on it, if you don’t pick a topic that you really like it can quickly become the most miserable experience of your life. So I whole heartedly endorse the idea of finding a topic that you love and finding a way to write about it, heck, I managed to convince a school in Alabama that it was a good idea to let me write about the curse of the Cubs. But this may be going a bit too far

It’s the PhD thesis that boldly goes where no thesis has gone before. Djoymi Baker watched 700 episodes - 624 hours without ads - of Star Trek and its spin-offs, dating from 1966 to 2005, in the name of research.

She analysed the series armed with an exhaustive knowledge of the characters and storylines of ancient mythology - from Homer’s Odyssey down.
